President’s Message
What a great start to our Fall Season! We had a great time with the Flea Market. Yes, we made $$. But, more importantly, we had enjoyment and good fellowship collecting the items, pricing them and interacting with each other and the customers during the sale! Each year our Flea Market provides each of us with this opportunity and I encourage all who are available to participate next year.
As for October, we have three events not to be missed.
·         The first is our annual Stag Luncheon with our Guest Speaker, Mile Leyden. This is our monthly business meeting on October 11th and is held at the Tavistock Country Club where we have an excellent meal, time to meet and share news with friends and to hear an interesting speaker
·         The next event is helping with our 65 Club table at the Fall Festival on Saturday, October 13th. We all have a great time meeting and chatting with friends and potential new members. We are there from about 10 – 2.  You don’t need to be there for the entire time. Just show up for as much as you want and have some fun.
·         The third event is our trip to the Mercer Museum, followed by a sumptuous lunch and a tour of Henry Mercer’s house, Fonthill Castle. This tour is on Tuesday, October 16th. It is indeed a step back in time to see the items collected by Henry Mercer.
October is a transition month for us as well. We leave summer and move into times of cool nights and warm days.
No more of that hiding from the oppressive heat and humidity. We are free to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors.
It’s also time to pull out our decorations, as we get ready for Halloween and the visits by all of the children dressed in their favorite costumes, ready to pick up all of those treats.
I hope you are looking forward to this exciting October as much as I am.

Fall Stag Luncheon – October 11th
The annual fall stag luncheon will be held at Tavistock on Thursday, October 11th. A cash bar will begin at 12:00 noon and lunch will be served at 12:30. The menu choices are Beef Bourguignon over buttered noodles, Pecan & herb encrusted chicken with Dijon sour cream sauce, Fillet of salmon with dill sauce, or Caesar salad with shrimp & crab meat. The cost is $30 which may be paid at the door. Please make a reservation with Bob Parsons at 856-795-1465 so that we know how many meals to order. As is customary, we will again have a 50/50 raffle.
The speaker this year will be Michael Leyden.  Mike is a retired FBI agent who was a lead investigator in case of U.S. vs. Nicodemo Scarfo and prosecution of the entire racketeering hierarchy of the Scarfo Family in Philadelphia. He was a special agent in FBI and served over 25 years. He also served as Vice President of corporate security/surveillance at Caesars Casino in Atlantic City.
Mr. Leyden was an adjunct professor at Alvernia College and was investigator for the Pennsylvania Senate Special Committee on Election Matters.
Currently he is Senior Investigator for the firm of Cloud, Feehery & Richter ( private investigators).
He has over 50 years as an investigator in both the public and private sector.

65 CLUB WILL STEP BACK IN TIME – Oct 16th
On Tuesday, October 16, the charter bus will depart from Wedgewood Swim Club at 8:30 AM.

Next on the schedule is lunch at the Plumstead Inn where the menu choices will be chicken parmesan, roast beef with mashed potatoes & vegetable and broiled salmon with rice and vegetable. After lunch, we will head to Fonthill Castle, which was built between 1908 and 1912, entirely of hand mixed concrete.
