President’s Message
What a great time of the year. Although there’s a chill in the air, soon spring's explosion of colors will take place. The crocuses have poked up their heads and announced the daffodils and tulips are getting ready to say SRING IS HERE! Baseball is back! The Phillies new additions have re-imagined that wonderful excitement of the previous decade. Perhaps a parade in the fall? Only time will tell.
Since I'm talkin' sports I think most of us understand how even if we don't follow any particular sport, we see how our whole community embraces the successes of our home teams. Whether it's high school basketball state champs or the Superbowl champs, our collective mood is elevated for days if not weeks. I often wondered why. Could it be pride in our achievement even though it isn't really our achievement? Could it be that because our day to day life is rather ordinary that we revel in the success of our favorite team, even though it's not our own success? I don't know, but I'd like to think that those of us who played organized sports understand the importance of team work and camaraderie. The ability to work side by side, to suffer through thick and thin, working toward, then achieving, a successful outcome. I relished my children's achievements even though they weren't mine. We root for the underdog but celebrate the victor as long as we feel some kind of ownership.
You might ask where am I going with this? The 65 club is MY team. We have veterans who have toiled for years and also newbies like myself.  We play bridge and pinochle. We bowl and go on trips to nearby landmarks. We meet weekly and listen to and question people of interest and sometimes those not so interesting. The fact is, we are a team. We are a team of seniors who, after spending most of our life in the work of family, community and faith, now pass our days as a group in the never-ending search for relevance. We do award trophies at our spring luncheon. Individual achievement does have some merit. That and bragging rights suits us fine. The 65 club gives me a reason to wake in the AM. The 65 club is my team and there is nothing better than TEAM!

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but think you can't, it's almost certain you won't.

Teaser for Ladies Spring Luncheon– May 9th
Each Country in the World has a sound. It is the sound of its own language and the way its people speak it, it’s the sound of its cities, of the wind that crosses them, of their natural landscapes. Each Country has its own sound expression, called “Music”. Each Country takes a part in growing the cultures on our planet, and with its own “Music” it helps to enhance it and disperse it.
In the world’s history, some Countries covered an important role especially because of their music. Among these is Italy, that has always been represented by the Classical Neapolitan Song from great artists, musicians, composers, musical directors, as well as music academics and researchers. At the Ladies Spring Luncheon, we are proud to present ANNA CALEMME:
The winner of 5th edition of the ‘’Festival of Naples’
The Neapolitan SanRemo Awards
The world representative of the Neapolitan Song

Just A Few Chuckles
♦ I read that 4,153,237 people got married last year. Not to cause any trouble, but shouldn't that be an even number?
♦ I find it ironic that the colors red, white, and blue stand for freedom until they are flashing behind you.
♦ When wearing a bikini, women reveal 90% of their body. Men are so polite they only look at the covered parts.
♦ My therapist says I have a preoccupation with vengeance. We'll see about that.
♦ I think my neighbor is stalking me as she's been Googling my name on her computer. I saw it through my telescope last night.
♦ Money talks ... but all mine ever says is good-bye.
♦ If you think nobody cares whether you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.
♦ I always wondered what the job application is like at Hooters. Do they just give you a bra and say, "Here, fill this out?"
♦ My therapist said that my narcissism causes me to misread social situations. I’m pretty sure she was hitting on me.
♦ The location of your mailbox shows you how far away from your house you can go in a robe before you start looking like a mental patient
♦ Money can’t buy happiness, but it keeps the kids in touch!
